Hunting birds and producing quality bird dogs has been my lifetime passion for more than 50 years. The first English Pointer I owned was purchased from J.D Lester (a long time breeder and trainer) out of a dog called Champion Smart owned and bred by Dr. Alvin Nitchman over 45 years ago. I was hooked. Champion Smart ‘s sire was Champion Elhew Sundown owned by Dr Robert Wehle. I later purchased a pup out of a Champion Smarts son called Champion Pork Roll. Both these father & son champions were directly linked to Mr. Wehle and the Elhew bloodline.
In the past couple of years I have been able to obtain several Elhew line bred bitches as breeding stock via frozen semen out of Elhew Damascus. To say the least, we are excited here at Lezahs Redwood Kennels. These dogs are the progeny of dogs like CH Elhew Guard Rail, Elhew Mr. Magoo, CH Elhew Strike, CH Hooks Bounty Hunter, CH Elhew Snakefoot, CH Honky Tonk Attitude, and CH Fibber Mc Gee just to name a few are all in this breeding stocks pedigree. If credentials or bloodline means anything, the pups I intend to promote at the kennel will be reflective of their forefathers and mothers who are known for their great bird finding ability, stamina, intelligence, staunchness on point, train ability, and desire to please their owner.
